This print of Grey Columns depicts the present home of the president of Tuskegee University. It was formerly known as the Vander-Alexander home. The planning and supervision of the construction was done by William Varner in 1840. He supported Tuskegee Institute and Booker T. Washington's work on one of the oldest black institutions of higher learning.
